Illuminated Presence

This was a prototype installation made using a Arduino board, sensors and spot lights – hooked up with a laptop running MaxMSP. We made it during a semester on my BA in Digital Design.

It is an installation for city parks, where trees are illuminated by the colors red, yellow and green by spot lights hidden in the lower part of the tree crown. The trees pulses when a person is nearby and changes color when touched. (Using only cheap proximity / echo sensors). The goal was to create life in parks after sunset and let the trees illuminate the presence of people.

At a design expo Illuminated Presence was awarded Most creative idea by Østjysk Innovation
